1962 A Memoir 'Short & Sweet'

At SAS I was in heaven.

I attended Mass every day, in fact every day at 6:30 AM.  Classes were fixed with Latin, Classical Greek, Spanish, history, English, biology, chemistry, physics and other social science courses throughout the four years.  Mandatory study hours took place in the afternoon and evening after dinner.  But every day there were opportunities for sports and free time for reading.  And then there was our “Four o’clock lunch” consisting of cold milk with fresh baked bread slathered with preserves.  Who could ask for anything more?  And, instead of getting in trouble at home for doing or not doing something, I experienced success in athletics and praise in the classroom.  I was never homesick a single day at St. Anthony’s.
