I had to respond to the two stories written by my former classmates, John Tedesco (“Teddy”) and Kevin Belton.  First, both stories are artful and true and I expected nothing less from these two gifted men.  Second, without such stories (and the archive that Steve and SASAA provides as a home) those experiences will only fade and die.  Finally, it warms my heart to have Kevin provide a testimonial about our freshmen class “Las Vegas Night.”  In fact, it was my plan to host the event.  It was my roulette wheel that my parents, Rita and Gerry, brought back as a souvenir from Las Vegas that provided the main “action” that night.  Students bet their Friday night pies against the “house” (me).  As everyone knows, the house always wins.  The next Friday I had dozens of pies that were due me sent to my table.  I distributed pies to my friends all across the refectory.  There was chaos—pies going every which a’ way—until Fr. Ralph put an abrupt stop to it all.  It was folly and madness and joy and it really happened.   Gerald W. Bergevin - 1965
